Second grade is a year of growth towards a love of life-long learning! The students are inspired to dive into world history through creating interactive journals. While studying Ancient Greece, the students learn all about the Gods and Goddesses and get to dress up and participate in Greek Olympics! Other exciting lessons include Ancient China and Life Cycles.
Mrs. Houser was born and raised in the Panhandle of the Sunshine State and moved to Arkansas in 2009. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of Arkansas, as well as her Master of Arts in Teaching degree. Mrs. Houser is certified in the areas of Preschool-4th grade, and k-12 English as a Second Language. This is Mrs. Houser’s seventh year teaching, and her second year teaching second grade at NWACA. She loves teaching literacy and being able to make math understandable for everyone. She has been married for 10 years and has two daughters (their third is due in November 2019). In her free time, Mrs. Houser enjoys watching Razorback Football, traveling, antiquing/thrifting, and completing DIY projects around the house.
Miss. Meza was born in Southern California, but has lived in Arkansas for the last 14 years. She attended Northwest Arkansas Community College, where she was involved in many clubs and organizations such as Phi Theta Kappa, Sigma Kappa Delta, Student Government, and many others. While attending NWACC, she worked as a preschool teacher in Bentonville. Miss Meza earned her Associate’s degree in science then transferred to Missouri Southern State University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education for grades 1-6 and her TESOL/ESOL certification for grades k-12. This is Miss Meza’s first year with responsive ed, and her first year as an elementary school teacher. Outside of school, Miss Meza enjoys camping, hiking, swimming, visiting family, and drinking tea or coffee.
This is Mrs. Paladino's 2nd year with Responsive Education. This year she will be teaching 2nd Grade, and will help coach the Spartan Cheer Squad. It will be her 14th year of teaching. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Mrs. Paladino is certified in the areas of Pre-K-6 and 7-8 Social Studies. She began her teaching career in North Little Rock, Arkansas where she spent 6 years at Immaculate Conception Catholic School teaching 5th grade and 1st grade. While there, she also sponsored the Junior High Pom and Cheer squads. Once she moved to Northwest Arkansas, she spent time teaching 2nd and then 4th/5th grade at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School. She then moved on to Northwest Arkansas Community College, where she taught Microsoft Office classes, and finally went on to Walker Elementary as a Literary Interventionist before moving on to here at NWACA. Mrs. Paladino and her husband, Joe, have been married 23 years. Together they have a 15 year old daughter, Addison, who attends Lincoln Junior High and a 23 year old daughter, Taylor, who is married to her high school sweetheart, Ryan. Outside of school, Mrs.Paladino enjoys a wide variety of activities. When chilling out, she plays with her two labs and three granddogs, reads books, listens to music, and enjoys just being outdoors. When feeling artsy, she likes to draw and create crafts from Pinterest. When in the sporting mood, she loves football, baseball, canoeing, and hiking. Her most favorite activity is dancing, whether it be, ballet, tap, jazz, or just freestyling to music.
