This is my 3rd year teaching at NWACA, as well as my 3rd year as a teacher. I have a passion for science but an even greater passion for my students! I have a Bachelors degree in education covering all subjects K-6 as well 7th and 8th Science. I am currently working on my Masters and Ed.S. in Counseling and love being able to utilize the things I am continuing to learn in my classroom now.
I was born and raised in San Diego, California and moved to Arkansas in 2008. I am married to my wonderful husband Thomas and we have a fur baby (cat) named Simon. I earned my Bachelors of Arts in Education in May 2014, from Henderson State University. With my bachelors, I obtained an educators license in Middle School Mathematics and Science. I come to Northwest Arkansas Classical Academy with 5 years of teaching experience in a variety of math and science classrooms.
Overall, I love literature and languages. I double-majored in my undergraduate degree, studying English and Classical Studies, at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. This gave me an excellent grounding in periodic literature, as well as Latin and Greek. I earned a PhD in English at the University of Arkansas, where my specialization was in medieval literature and languages. More specifically, I studied Old English literature and medieval monasticism for my PhD, and wrote a dissertation on theology and exile in Old English texts.
I taught for five years at the university level while working on my doctorate, teaching classes in both literature and composition, and I'm excited to be teaching here, where there is a love for cultivating academic strength and wisdom.
My wife, Kathryn, is currently working on her PhD too, studying rice, and when we're not too exhausted, in our spare time we enjoy cooking, baking, and playing with our sweet Calico cat, Adair.
